External Counter Pulsation (ECP)

A Natural Bypass Process

ECP is a completely non-invasive, safe, painless and effective treatment for heart disease, with long lasting benefit.

Is ECP right for you?

ECP is recommended for patients who have:

  • Chest pain (angina) despite optimal medical treatment and are not willing for bypass surgery or angioplasty

  • Already undergone bypass surgery or angioplasty and are having symptoms again but are not keen for a repeat procedure

  • Heart failure (a weak or enlarged heart) and have symptoms despite optimal medical treatment.

It is approved by the U.S. FDA for treatment of stable angina and heart failure

How does ECP work?

External Counter Pulsation is a non-invasive, natural, safe, painless, effective US FDA approved treatment for heart disease

During ECP, the cuffs that are wrapped around the legs compress the blood vessels to propel blood towards the heart. This compression is timed to the heartbeat so that increased blood flow reaches the heart when it is relaxing.

When this is done repeatedly over time, it stimulates and augments the natural mechanism the body uses to develop alternative channels for blood flow in people with blockages

Therefore, with ECP, these natural bypasses are made faster.

ECP, a natural bypass procedure, augments our body’s natural mechanism to develop new channels for blood in case of blockages
During ECP cuffs wrapped around the legs squeeze the blood vessels to push blood to the heart in synchrony with the heartbeat
